I've hatched over a thousand eggs with masuda method/no charm and not a single shiny. Should I just give up?

That is a lot of Pokemon and time as I only have ultra moon. I just want one shiny and based on other people's experience it shouldn't take this long. How many eggs did it take for anyone here for a shiny hatch?

Yes. Farming shinies is autistic and retarded. I have found like 8 all by pure fucking luck, even my prized Chandelure while breeding one for Battlespot. It means so much more when you let them come to you, and you get to preserve your sanity as well.

For the record said shiny Chandelure was my sixth egg. No charm and no MM. All my other shinies were just random encounters since I don't use repels.

Never hatched one in 3 Generations of charmless hunting. Hatched an A-Vulpix in Sun after 114 and a HA Pancham after 319.

Oh wait no. I did get a shiny Scraggy once by breeding. That was like 20 eggs or some shit? May have been MM'd though on accident, it was a long while ago so I barely remember. Gave it away too since it was kind of a dud.

I got a shiny male nidoran in the park (crystal) twice. Getting a second one really dampered the joy of getting a new one

Ok, I lied. The first shiny nidoran got killed in a nuzlocke before I caught it, the second was caught in the same spot 5-6 months ago. A deja-vu of sorts.

XY is the easiest to get shinies in. Just do the chain fishing strategy or run around in the friend safari.

If you’re just trying to get a shiny in Ultra Moon, the Ultra Wormhole Pokémon are a much much easier chance to get a shiny than any breeding method. Of course those can get to be so easy that some might consider them cheating or welfare shinies or whatever, but hey it beats hatching thousands of eggs with no reward!

I have never heard one person call it cheating. They are definitely welfare shinies though, barely better than the red Gyarados.
