In this post, I will be explaining exactly what I do to fit all 1000+ pokemon onto a 32gb switch cart. But first, we need to clear something up. Because every time I make a complete dex post, I get the same comments over and over saying that there are too many pokemon, even though I always have a whole paragraph in the description explaining it, which even starts with "3DS carts could fit 807 pokemon with 1/4th of the space." But maybe what you guys need isn't a paragraph, maybe you guys need an example. So, consider Pokemon Sun and Moon, not even the whole game. Just consider including every single pokemon, which is a necessary part of any pokemon game. So, how many gigabytes does it take to fit all of them? Well, If you say one, that's wrong. Because then gamefreak can't fit in their separate models for shinies and alternate forms. If you say four, Well it's true that we can fit them all in with four but we can do a little better. We can do the entire game in 3.2GB. To do that, we start development already using our high-poly futureproofed models and then we use those assets to reduce development time. Now hold on, I know what you're thinking, "We cutto da poketomonstah for haia kuority animashon, pureseau undastando". Well Junichi "Bug in anus" Masuda, hear me out. A pokemon actually has three parts to it. The models, the animations, and the moves. And together, this forms one complete pokemon. Now, usually, it's the animations that take a lot of time to make. Because there are new ones needed for each gen's gimmick. However, sometimes it's sufficient to just use the pre-existing animations, which allows us to save space and time for other additions like new moves, dialogue, NPCs, and story development. And as for the moves, well, there's currently no cases where that's taken a large amount of storage space, so don't worry about that part.
