They insist that that GF isn't using resources and should just hire more manpower. When we learn that they did and that the solution isn't as simple as that, it isn't enough.
We hear that GF's decision is unacceptable and that Nintendo or the Pokemon Company (Which GF owns a portion of, not the other way around) should somehow cut them off and punish them. It was a joint decision.
They strained to get the full dex into Sun and Moon and there have been various bumps and patches across mainline entries surrounding the National dex and the idea of its removal is still so unfathomable that the reality would be dismissed, diminished, or deflected with the soundest explanations or justifications short of getting what they want back.
Basically, as a generalization, yeah. There's no flexibility or reasoning with a big chunk of them.
