Registering Pokenav #s is cool for keeping a list of who you can rematch, but it seems like it can take forever to get any calls for a battle.
Meanwhile, R/S has Trainer's Eyes which you can game to basically get easy, quick rematches

Playing this for the first time right now. I actually like how many double battles are optional and can be broken down into single battles if you're not a fan of the format. AI is fucking annoying though, every trainer treats it like a zero-sum game, constantly using status moves or just using Protect/Detect to waste your time for no fucking reason.

I would like to see a version of Emerald that has:

I like the format, but the idea that two trainers are teaming up against you as one seemed off to me. It was OK for Team Magma and Aqua to do it because bad guy, but that two random trainers would join forces in what amounts to attempted mugging never sat right with me.

I mean, at that point you have to question the whole "if trainers eyes' meet they have to battle" thing as well. I always assumed there was some sort of agreement that we just weren't seeing for the sake of time.

Fucking glorious game, just found a shiny Poochyena last Saturday night and now I can RNG anything I want. Battle Frontier is tripping me up, but it's the challenge that matters. I think that in terms of postgame hours I have +160 hours.

Seriously though, Emerald is really superior to Ruby and Sapphire, RS are over as soon as you defeat the league meanwhile Emerald has a lot of things to do (or maybe not a lot, but at least they are time consuming)
