They're generic base designs meant to be improved through customization. Which the game has a shit load of this time around. This is the one area where only s mouth drooling faggot would complain about. It's a vastly improved system and we've been shown that much. You can even make your own introcard with poses and effects. This is the one thing the game got objectively right.

Iwao, Gamefreaks best battler, claimed the 5 star Raids is one of the first things to give him trouble in the series. So take that however you want.
