The difference is Star Wars turned to shit the wrong way, and that even normalfags were appalled and bailed.
Pokemon's still "good" in the eyes of the normalfags, which means nothing's going to actually change because normalfags make the largest bulk of the sales.

If I do ever decide to buy it, it'll certainly be used. They haven't wowed me so far and I dont feel the product is worth 60 bucks when I paid 40 for a game with all the pokemon programmed in. Not to mention that we still have no info as to what pokemon home even entails.

Pretty damn well for the parent companies. Hasbro isn't slowing down at all because despite the toys shelfwarming Wal-Mart is still ordering every wave they push out and feeding them money. In the long run the consumer doesn't really matter for big brands like this.
