The Kanto gyms were shit. They didn't feel like a quest, they felt like a boss rush.

It was cool the first time, but kanto was neutered so much that everyone just blitzed through the whole region in an hour, and both regions ended up feeling completely anemic. It wasn't worth it.

RPGs should stop doing the "go to the old game's lands but they are scaled down and lack anything to do" meme. Wasn't good in Dragon Quest II/III and wasn't good in G/S.
