Can we all agree that the Steel-type didn't balance shit?

if you go back and look at gen 2's steel types, you can tell they were intentionally balanced a certain at the time
>steelix has an attack of 85
>skarmory's attack is 80
>forretress's attack is 90
>magneton doesn't have physical stab
>scizor has only steel wing for stab, but with an attack of 130
The whole type was designed entirely around being defensive, to the point of being passive entirely.

I mean they realized steel type was kind of broken and took Dark & Ghost from their resistances.

Then made it resist fairy - another OP type. Keeping steel almost exactly as powerful as before.

Fairy+Steel combo is broken, look at Magearna. Mega-Mawile is (was: rip megas) strong as shit too.

It's unambiguously the best type in the game but the fact that running a Steel gives you so many resists in one slot is good for the game. Your main defensive option in this game is to switch to a resist, so it's important that you can fit all the resists you need into 6 teamslots without completely dedicating yourself to defense.
