Regional variants are stupid.
They should't exist.
Like Mega evolutions, they serve as a lame excuse for GF not to make more actual brand new Pokémon.
Besides that 90% of them look like shit.

I see where you're coming from, but don't most regional variants differ in appearances, typing, and movepool? though it's technically not a new Pokemon, it's the bare minimum of one.

Regional variants are literal evolution. Just like regional birds, rodents, fish, and pikaclones. Thats like saying prevolutions and eggs shouldnt exist.

Regional variants would be fine if they weren't making abominations like this now.
Alolan Ninetales, Sandslash, and Marowak for example had better designs than most of the gen 7 dex.
But now they've gone and fucked one of my favorite Normal types with this furfaggotry. Not to mention what they've done to Farfetch'd.

I think the complete opposite, regional variants are great. They reflect real-world evolution and I'd be totally happy if we got more of them instead of new Pokemon.

The only bad thing with regional forms is this forced Gen 1 exclusivity. Zigzagoon was the exception at this point, not the rule. I bet they tried so hard make a Kiss-themed Gen 1 Pokémon but they failed so they decided to try with a non-gen 1.

I disagree. If they’re new designs were actually good I’d agree but the regional variants (and mega evolutions) are way better than 90% of new designs. I’d take a Galarian Weezing over a fucking Alcremie any day.

the idea of regional variants is very clever and the concept had the potential to help the franchise evolve as a whole, alas the actual execution delivers reskins with an over the top joking design, alolan sanshrew was well-designed, sandslash suffered a bit, raichu was fun with the surfing on it's tail as a direct reference to Hawaiian surf culture, but not as much as the others,
