1- They could've done internal research that shows most people use exp share, so they tried to develop the game around that level balance straight up

2-They could've decided they want the games to be even more baby-proof than they already are

3- The option could've turned off and the interview simply failed to mention that since it was during the rapid-fire quick-questions segment

1. They already sort of balanced the game around exp share always on with SuMo but they still gave the option to turn it off. Not a real reason to remove it.

This is peak Elite Casual at its finest.
You already had the option to turn on the EXP share because you can’t get past a standard Pokemon run without being overleveled. But the even bigger faggot that you already are, you couldn’t live with the idea of someone else (not you. Some complete stranger) could want to turn off the EXP share of their own game (such as wanting to use other Pokemon, not having the game autopilot, or for EV training). Something that they have already implemented beforehand in 2 generations and is literally just a toggle.
This is almost as bad as the casual elites in Smash.

Plenty of RPGs can be played without grinding, you have an awful view of what JRPG leveling systems are intended to do if you think liking JRPGs mean you have to enjoy grinding.

Most games that use them do so to give you new mechanics, abilities, moves etc. at a relatively set pace along with the story, while also letting you CHOOSE to grind if you want them sooner as a way to let you impact the difficulty of the game in a more natural way. Very few JRPGs are actively designed with the idea of you grinding and are purposefully designed for your leveling pace to be just right.

Even fucking Disgaea, a series known for grind, doesn't expect its players to grind until after they're done with the main story, a solid 20 - 30 hours of content.

It is absolutely reasonable to enjoy JRPGs and not enjoy grinding.

I don't know, dude, I don't work for GF and neither do you. Just people are acting like this is a new concept specifically made up by tpc and GF to make them angry. I'm saying other games do it so maybe gf decided that was the direction of rpgs and balanced the game around that.

In Persona you have 3 (4 if you include Fuuka, Rise, and Futaba as part of the battle) party members that, unless you kill them the first turn of every battle, are always usable and will gain Exp.
Just because the MC can switch personas doesn't mean that it's a 1v1.

They already did this in LGPE and it was already annoying there. We've had half a decade of games with full party exp share so peeps already know whether they like it or not. Removing the option to turn it off is just retarded.

There is an obvious difference between how Pokemon does it and how other JRPGS do.
With Pokemon how the older games were was that team building was more involved, you needed to switch out who lead the team so that exp would spread evenly to be ready for future challenges. People liked playing like this thus the option to turn of the casual bullshit that is EXP share.
EXP share is way less involved than other JRPGs too because in others your entire team is in the fight and if they aren't they tend to get left behind in exp.
Removing the toggle just removes a way of playing the game for no other reason than.. well I actually don't know. They did it in LGPE and it was fucking stupid then and here its extra fucking stupid.
