>>40256959Not him, but my take on it is that I think it’s a fine design on its own, but the regional variants that overshadow the old Pokémon by adding onto a design that’s already there rather than changing up the idea altogether really irritate me.
What I mean by that is G-Weezing doesn’t subtract anything from the original design besides its original color, and adds a bunch of new stuff to the old design that makes it feel like an “upgrade” rather than a sidegrade.
I like the variants that are interchangeable with the originals rather than feeling like replacements by getting rid of some of the old ideas the original design had and doing something new with what’s left, a good example of this is G-Ponyta which gets rid of the flames entirely and does something new with what’s left instead of trying to slap something on top of that flame archetype, or so far apart from the original design that you almost mistake it as an entirely new Pokémon altogether like A-Raichu and A-Persian.
