BW was kinda empty too, but they fixed it with BW2, which is one of the longest games in the franchise
SM was shit in content and they said "no worries here is more" and they gave us... USUM with was the same empty shit.
And then LGPE came, which is a Kanto remake for $60 that had less content than the Kanto remake on the freaking GBA. Can't forget that $50 Mew, too. And for this Masuda said, literally quoting here, that catching Pokémon was too hard.
To all this, let's add the continous interviews where they think phones are actual competition and say kids today don't have attention spams for long rpgs, which are both bullshit. They also presented Home with a speech about keeping your old friends months before admitting to dexit.
Dexit would've been complained about no matter what, but it would've caused less damage if they had presented something to make up for it. So far they haven't. No, I don't want the entire game spoiled but they haven't given us one reason to believe there will be shit to do. They keep hyping the wild area, which looks pretty damn empty so far, as the main thing. Everything else are old features with slight updates (gigamax is just megas using z-moves, curry is puffin making, camping is aime but a big bigger, sending your moms to work is pelago with another name, the cards are the Alola photo club). They haven't shown ONE fucking piece of a new not-side activity you can do. Nobody is asking for the whole post-game to be shown. Just ONE thing to be excited for. Raids are nice but after finishing the dex people will be done with them.
After gens VI and VII, GF earned the doubt and untrust. Dexit didn't make everyone go crazy suddenly. Many here already skipped LGPE and even USUM. If they want to make smaller games just to promote new mons for merch I can actually understand that, but they shouldn't promote and charge a supposedly big game then.
