A combination of LGPE being a return to Gen 1 without adopting modern Gen features (Breeding, held items, abilities), being restricted to the Kanto dex, having brand association with Go, and the catch mechanics replacing normal wild battles pretty much gets them dismissed outright by /vp/ and many of those who consider themselves hardcore fans.
Still, fun games.
