the difference relies in the fact that up until now, you could transfer pokemon from all games to the recent entries, they even released RBY/GSC for the eShop to accomplish that.

neither smash nor AC had this system, nor it was a mechanic built it, it doesn't mean having to pay for Banjo just for 1 game isn't shitty, as the next game may not have all the base characters, let alone dlcs.

from now on, all pokemon games are exclusive to each other, i can excuse it with mechanics like seasons, but the pokemon now are as expendable as any other part of the game

you see anon, next year we will get Super Sword and Super Shield, likely introducing back old pokemon or even adding new pokemon, like USUM did. That means the previous games are pretty much obsolete.
This has happened before (third versions often replace the originals in terms of functionality), but the pokemon being exclusive to each game from now on means enhanced versions will kill the normal versions.
The remakes are a problem as well, unless they add all the pokemon from the sinnoh pokedex into SWSH, the games are incompatible.
Pokemon games are released almost every year, which means you either buy each and every release from now on with they small tweaks and "Ultra changes", or you are basically "out of the loop".

might as well just transform pokemon into a subscription service

And what exactly is the difference to before? We had like a gap year with lgpe, that wasn‘t actual pokemon, well no wild battles and go mechanics and shit. But otherwise we got platinum, then we got hgss, then we got bw, then we got bw2. All happened in one year. I don‘t see the problem, why I know shouldn‘t enjoy swsh, because there will be dp remakes, lgjohto or swsh++. Who knows maybe they will patch the dp pokemon into swsh so it can be connected. The reason they didn‘t touch this on the 3ds was because you could just choose not to install it and nothing would happen.

Not the original anon that posted that, but that is indeed a problem if your game can barely last for more than a year considering the asking price.
Standards get lower, workload increases, passion is lost. This is why people over at GF are suffering from the lack of inspiration and care for Pokemon now, all they focus on is chugging out the next game. They don't want to go all out, because they can't or just straight up won't bother.
These other games that have come out show that devs care or tried. Pokemon only exists to sale consoles now.

I wouldn't count LGPE a gap year, thats still some time and resources poured into a game which could have been dedicated to the main series. Game Freak did work on it so we can't say they didn't do much in it's production.
A pokemon game is still a pokemon game, no matter how lazy it is.
