Maybe you run around from spawn point to spawn point but that waste repels and can lead to you not noticing a pokemon spawn.
So you're probably only going to run out of boredom.
OW encounters also require your full attention during a hunt, while RE encounters can easily be done while watching TV since you only need to glance down and check if it's a shiny or not.
But really this argument is for brainlets as both are going to be present in SwSh.
One of the few things Game Freak got right.
More options is always better than less.
