I think it's possible, but I'm not familiar enough with bears to try and guess what's possible. Black bear is really the only one I know, but not familiar with habitat.

Pokemon aren't based on one thing. It's painfully clear it's meant to be both a red panda and a bear, given its resemblance to mascot bears, its dangerous reputation, and its affinity for honey in the anime.

I was just thinking of a way to make it as tanky as possible. Water/ground means it's only weak to grass, but water/bug would be weak to flying, electric and rock.
