GF already confirmed that LGPE is a side game. That said I agree that it was the beginning of the end. People buying this trash product confirmed to Gamefreak that they can be as lazy as possible and make just as much money. This trash ass game is what made SWSH so shit.

They literally didn't. Masuda said it is mainline. Also SWSH has been in development since 2016, a year before LGPE started development.

Nope, was Gen 5. That's where they locked the in-game to only the one region, and started removing or dumbing down all content.

Gen 5 is the beginning of the end. Gen 7 and 8 are just tasking it to extremes in an attempt to ferret out where the breaking point is.

Tbf, swsh may have started as usum. Eurogamer once leaked that stars, a SM remake, would be on the Switch, hence everyone's disappointment when usum was announced for 3ds.
Eurogamer then was informed plans changed, that Nintendo wanted a new generation on the Switch instead. So direction was changed to making swsh sometime in development.
Take it as you will, but the timing is sensible, and swsh looks similar to SM, and usum was very lack luster as a result. Because they were working on usum, swsh, quest, and let's go in the same amount of time.

Masuda literally said it was a mainline game, i hate it too, but this game is just a simplified firered/leafgreen with 3D graphics and pikachu&eevee pandering. If firered is a mainline game, this is too, even if there are features missing, this is basically turn battles where you get 6 pokemon, do the gyms and finish the league.
