Sleep powder + Psychic takes care of every Pokemon bar psychic types. I used Butterfree in several playthroughs, I know what I am writing.
Farfetch'd is an absolute monster. It gets bonus experience early in the game, Swords Dance helps with sweeping and its Slash deals more damage than Body Slam from Tauros.
Onix has godly typing in gen 1 since most of your enemies spam either normal attack or weak-ass STABs. The only time it gets horrible is near water types. Strong TMs (Dig/EQ and Rock Slide) mitigate its shitty attack a little.
