>>40276985I cared about Ponyta's treatment in the games more than Ponyta itself.
In RGB, Ponyta was one of the few Pokemon to not be available in mainland Kanto; it is on Cinnabar Island's Pokemon mansion. In Yellow, Ponyta was one of the few Pokemon in the mansion that can't be found there in this game.
In GSC, Ponyta is one of the very few Kanto Pokemon that can't be found in the Johto region (aside from Mt. Silver, but that's post-game so it barely counts) before the credits.
In FRLG, Ponyta is one of the few Pokemon to not be found in Kanto at all; instead it is on Sevii Islands. Also, its game location has changed compared to other Pokemon in the remakes.
In DP, Ponyta is the only other Fire-type evolutionary line in the game before the credits aside from the Chimchar line. As such, both Barry (the rival), who used Ponyta as his Fire-type (he had a Grass-Fire-Water dynamic like Blue did) if he didn't pick Chimchar, and Flint (Fire-type E4) had to include it in their rosters.
In the Gen 6 games, Ponyta is not available normally at all, and it is one of the very few Kanto Pokemon to receive this treatment.
In the Alola games, Ponyta isn't available at all.
Also, this is the first time we've had Ponyta in a regional dex since Platinum, if remakes don't count.
