See a giga-thing is a form you get when you dinamax a specific pokemon and is unrelated to a mega which you can't do if you want to use a z-move. Of course, you can't do either if you're holding a different item. But that's fine because when you dina-thing you get a max move, which is different from a z-move, because a z-move is based on a single existing move and converting it to a Z-move (except in special cases where there is a wholly unique z-move), no the max moves gained via dynamaxing affects all moves, but you can only use them for 3 turns while dynamaxed, compared to a z-move you have access to whenever you want.
Kinda makes sense to us, but people that haven't check in in a few years, they're screwed.
