Someone printed out the pictures and brought them along to a meet'n'greet event where they hhanded them to Masuda to sign. He reacted like "How did you get these? You're not supposed to see them yet!" Given his comments in the vid last week about the starters, it just shows he'd rather people found out about the evos in-game rather than leaks or them being shown off. I do think it's why we got fuck all leaks this time - they REALLY went hard on making sure nothing got out.

You have to realize that last Gen's leaks were an anomaly, they leaked on the anime side of the franchise. I'm sure internally some heads rolled for that one. The fact that we have had such an accurate leak is pretty impressive on its own. We're close enough now that it won't really matter, we'll either get a demo datamine or some early copies will start popping up.

He was a playtester, he as much as confirmed it when he'd said "I didn't get very far", plus there was no mention of anything seemingly past the 4th gym, as well as no mention of the late-game storyline either (he didn't even know the box legends were two distinct pokémon, when all New Gen pairs have a distinct pair of Legends on the box (uppers recently having fusions of the initial paired Legends with a third) which tells he wasn't even as big a fan as anyone who'd gather online to talk about the franchise. That he'd leaked on /v/ and not here is telling).

Nope, heard it here after the fact from anon who'd found it on twitter or some shit. Might be apocryphal but at the same time, I've heard GF talk about leaks before and how it leaves them down,so I've no doubt if it did happen, it'd drive Masuda to squash all leaks if possible next time out.

The weirdest thing was that he saw the final forms of all the starters despite not getting pretty far.

The level curve in this game might be even steeper than XY's to account for the exp share always being on, if the rivals' starters were fully evolved before the 5th gym.

Very nonlinear and you can skip gyms, but given the levels by the time Blue evolves his starter fully you should have gotten through 5 or 6 gyms.
