Maybe it's from me playing PTA/PTU too much but I love the idea of further customizing what your character can do besides order their Pokemon around. Having unique abilities or bonuses to certain scenarios would be really awesome to see in the main games. But I also see how it would add another layer of game balance to consider.

I'd honestly just like an expansion on previous mechanics and a return of some older ones. Expand on terrains and weather types, bring back dexnav, more interactions in battle, etc. I'd also like a buff to previous pokemon stats to try and make them more relevant. We don't need new forms when just an additional 20 or 30 points to their BST would do fine. And also all the pokemon back.

i would like the ability of actually being the league champion - as in, you could defend your title against npc trainers
you'd get a phone call or whatever 'so and so challenges you' and then you could have the option to defend your title or forfeit it to the former champion

For terrain, Icy Terrain comes to mind, probably just slowing Pokemon that aren't Ice types, but that seems easy. Nothing major comes to mind otherwise, maybe a high pollen type weather that hinders non-grass types?

I honestly feel like everything is better than the lowest effort products they're putting out for years.

But ideally I'd want an actual JRPG instead of the same dumbed down experience for the 8th time. Keep the battles and the gyms but give the whole system an overhaul (stat/type changes to balance this shit out, something gf is unable to do), along with an actual story and hire decent programmers so it doesn't look like ass. The image in the OP is great because it evokes the feeling of wonder and adventure that the first gens didn't have the technology to implement and the latter ones lack the talent and development time, but I'd be satisfied with a map like the latest Dragon Quest.

Just actual content and not this gimmicky shit of a feature each gen, that enforces the fact that these games are forgettable and meant to be played once then disappear from our memory.

Why? Does nintendo collapse if there's a longer interval between kanto wankfests? Who are these people that religiously need a new pokemon game every 3 years? imagine pixelmon but with less minecraft. Make it a more directed experience with a story reminiscent of hoenn and with johto's level curve. Add a difficulty setting to it with modes like halo, including modifiers like the skulls. side quest reminscent of nier automata would be nice, it would basically be a grab bag of things i like from other games.

I posted an autistic list describing the sort of game I'd make before so I'll just trim down to a few points.

EVs can function to make NPC pokemon better on their own, they don't offer any build customization outside of deciding if you want 0 attack IVs on your special attacker, they don't do anything to make your bro a more unique pokemon other than make them an objectively shit fighter, and they have you bike around for hours or just inject lol if you want to play online.
I wasn't for removing IVs for a while but I never came up with solid arguments in their favor, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone else have one, so they started to seem pointless.
The streamlining EVs thing would be more of a post-game feature, if you were wondering. Hidden power could be tied to EVs as well as a quick and dirty replacement.

I'd like a game with revamped overworld gameplay, give the player tons of control over the character's actions and design the region and dungeons around it, something akin to Snake from MGSV or Link from BotW. I think one could make some real fun set pieces with gameplay like that, like a tactical infiltration into the evil team base, platforming around a perilous mountain range, escaping from a rampaging legendary, etc.

Keep the battle system as is, just make everything else outside more engaging than just pressing directions and the A button every now and then.

Also romance, because fuck you I like that in my media.

Agreed, I wish GF understood battles are pretty much fine as they are and that it's the "immersion" outside of battles (interactions with pokemon, interactions with human NPCs and interactions with the environment) that needs to be greatly improved.

Sadly they'd rather go for the lazy route of shitting unecessary new battle gimmicks (Z-moves, Megas, Dynamax) and weird garbage new "story" elements (gyms renamed trials, UBs, sport-related gyms...).
