How can you express such devotion to a franchise, yet utterly fail to understand the way of things? GF has frequently removed features in the past, in the interest of downsizing to compensate for their short ass devcycles (and likely also to sell them back to people as if they were brand new in later products), now they're simply doing the same thing with the pokemon themselves. You don't even have to take my word for it, since Masuda has been trying to drill this into people's heads as the new norm at pretty much every opportunity. At best, there will be dummy data left on-cart, like Let's Go, but the missing mons and other assorted shit will not technically be included in the game's code.
Also, GF will never do DLC. Because why would you continue to support a game that will become outdated the following year? That's really the only reason they don't do it; they would be going full jew like the rest of the franchise if not for that.
What would be interesting to see is the hacking scene potentially reverse engeneering the game to add the roster back in, and how quickly they'd be able to do that. Would look really fucking awkward on GF's part if it happened just a month or two after release.
