What kind of person prefers Ground type? Have you ever meet them? I never did. Would like to, curious to.
I am a bugfag myself, and while I like to think bug type is not an obvious pick, it is definitely the "obvious non-obvious" pick. But Ground???

I like Ground. Earthquake is one of my favorite moves and several of my favorite mons are Ground types - Phanpy, Swampert, Nidoking, Krookodile, etc. It’s definitely one of my favorite types.

Ground was originally the Kaiju type and for the longest time was the most monstrous and toughest type.
Someone who likes imposing Pokemon or feeling grand would be a Ground guy / gal.

It kind of lacks an identity. It has more "regular animals" than most types but that's more Normal's thing. There's mud but that also kind of falls under Water (and most mud-themed Pokemon are Water/Ground). And of course the heavy overlap with Rock. Sand is usually Ground's thing, but then Sandstorm is Rock-type, Rocks get the SpDef boost in sand, and the sand weather is most often associated with a Rock/Dark Pokemon. Psychic, Fighting, Dark, Fairy, and to some extent Dragon also have pretty inconsistent identities, but are also inherently "cool" or "interesting" types.

Then there's the fact that it's been pretty badly treated in recent gens: Only Diggersby and Zygarde in Gen 6. Marowak, the Sandshrew line, and the Geodude line all lose their Ground typing with their Alolan forms.

In theory Lycanroc would be closer to Normal and Aggron, Tyranitar, and Rhydon don't necessarily encompass any of these Rock-type motif

My three favorite types are water, grass, and ground, which all happen to be very organic and nature-focused types. It's just an aesthetic that appeals to me. Plus,

Groundfag here, though I also like the other two earth elemental types fairly equally. As for why i like them, i just think that earth elemental is awe inspiring with just how much sheer near cataclysmic destruction it can cause. Earthquakes can not only cause a little rumble beneath our feet, but also tear apart whole continents relatively quickly, not to mention the tsunamis and volcanic eruptions they can cause.

Ground is definitely high up on my list since I really like how varied their designs are. From a literal sand castle, to a hippo, and even a frog. Ground is really interesting as a typing.
