I think the devs figured because Sobble is meek and fragile, a kind and patient person would take proper care of it.
But Twitter and Tumblr fags have to "identify" with everything, so Sobble's personality = their faked depression.

Turner called Sobble "he", I guess that means we're not getting another Primarina. Normally you would refer to a Pokemon as "it", and Turner called Sobble "he" subconsciously because he sees Sobble as male (that is, no feminine characteristics).
