I will say this: if I like a pokemon’s design, and it happens to be a Psychic-type, that doesn’t make it a good Psychic-type design. My favorite pokemon is Crobat, which would make no sense as a Psychic. If it was one I probably wouldn’t like it as much, since its types wouldn’t do justice to its design and vice versa. So no, just because I’ll like Galarian Ponyta more than most other Psychics doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like it even more as a Fairy.
I’d love to be convinced that Psychic makes more sense than Fairy, but I’ve been thinking about it all day and I’ve only slightly warmed up to the idea. The two types are more similar than I realized before today, so I’m sure I’ll warm up to it even more. That or Rapidash will have something unexpected that sheds light on everything.
