Example? Most mammals I can think of follow the same rules for masculine/feminine. Males tend to be larger, with more robust bones and females tend to be smallest and have a body suitable to give birth or to carry offspring.

Pokemon are magical creatures without physical sex organs. They reproduce by spontaneous egg generation initiated by proximity with another compatible Pokemon under specific circumstances, and can reproduce with other subspecies within what's know as an "egg group". Assigning human genders to this system is flawed for multiple reasons. For one, gender is not sex. Humans can be biologically male (sex) but identify as female (gender). Biologically speaking; human reproduction is a binary system where anomalies are rare but not impossible. Pokemon sexuality is effectively ternary, with the third "genderless" sex accounting for much of the parental pool. Whereas a human who carries an infant in their womb is considered the mother regardless of gender, neither parent in Pokemon reproduction carries the spontaneously generated egg. It simply appears.

You're not entirely wrong but my TED Talk on Pokemon reproduction stems more from my annoyance at fan-artists drawing pokemon with human or animal genitalia for sexual purposes and ruining the aesthetic of the Pokemon in the process, people like OP that can't differentiate human and Pokemon sexuality and feign bewilderment when a flawed analogy creates a counterintuitive situation, and the prevalence of ignorance surrounding a made-up breeding system with clearly outlined rules that are ignored for the sake of making the same jokes ad infinitum.

The problem with your explanation is that both in-games and in-anime people seem to easily determine the gender of a pokemon, so if they don't have genitals, they should have some other universal attributes tied with gender.

I was going to suggest some sort of invisible aura-like trait unique to magical creatures that could indicate male/female differences despite appearing physically identical, but I don't have to because pheromones exist. Several dex entries specifically reference pheromones in Pokemon, just not as an indicator for sex. But that's not to say they can't also serve that purpose.

Many animals irl use pheromones, and yet humans can't identify their sex by them without additional equipment.
Usually the most simple explanation is the right one, so my money are on pokemon simply having genitals like normal animals.

You're mixing up the explanations. "Eggs just appear" is the simplest explanation of breeding (which btw doesn't require lack of genitalia).

While "Pokemon has genitals like normal animals" is the simplest explanation of people easily determining their gender in games and anime.

It can literally morph it's private area into whatever kind of genitalia you want it. Regardless of its biological sex. It's amorphous by definition. So it really has no defined shape and is more than likely malleable, like other mons in the egg group.
