Anybody taken a moment to think about the reason Galarian Weezing is part Fairy-type? The easiest conclusion I came to is that it's two mutated floating ogre heads wearing top hat's (aka magicians hat's) that magically suck in pollution and magically turn it into purified air.

I'm pretty sure it's the person who created said Pokémon that chooses their type. Irc the guy who created Frillish and Jellicent was told beforehand that they'd be giving his two Pokémon the secondary Ghost-typing which upset them.

It’s the opposite. He created them as Water type Pokémon and GF needed more Ghosts so they slapped it to them which disturbed the creator since according to him there was nothing ghosty about them; that was not the inspiration for his work

I assume that's the case, but it'd be far more logical to start with the fairy typing and gain psychic, it's literally a fucking unicorn. They give fairy typings to pokemon just for being related to rabbits or mice, and they can't give it to one that's a literal mythical creature?

If I recall, the designer wanted the jellyfish to be royal themed hence why the gender differences make it look like a king and queen. GF instead through that out and made the dex purely about it being responsible for sunken ships. This is why Jellicent looks and acts nothing like most other ghost types in games barring dex. I agree Water/Ghost is an awesome type combo but GF was still an asshole to not at least tell the creator to design a Water/Ghost type first instead.

The lore behind unicorns is that their horns were thought to hold medicinal qualities and could be used as antidotes for poisons. GF took this concept and applied it to the whole mon. Hence, it wouldn't make sense for the mon who's gimmick is to be anti-poison to then be weak to poison type attacks.

You're right, Weezing is filtering it through its body like a machine, while Ponyta is using its miraculous supernatural powers to do so magically. One of these sounds like something a Fairy would do, while the other sounds like the complete opposite.
Maybe it's time to realize Fairy is just a meaningless filler type that's tacked on to just about anything for the sake of balance.
