The anime also doesn't help Gen 8's case; in generations past the anime is what drove the popularity of Pokegirls, but since the new anime isn't focusing exclusively on Gen 8 and will instead be a mishmash of all gens, and has no lead girl, no Gen 8 girl is going to get the amount of screentime and exposure past ones got.
