The concept of favorite of each type is flawed, If you look at my top 18 favorite Pokémon, and compare it to my favorite Pokémon of each type you can see how different the two lists are. To get to my favorite Ghost type, Banette, I have to skip 28 Pokémon I like more than it which are being completely left off the list despite being much more favored just because that type has already been occupied by a different Pokémon. It only makes sense to show your favorites in ranked order.
