Why are bear Pokemon so generic?

>first stage is a generic teddy bear
>final stage is a generic strong humanoid standing on 2 feet

Gamefreak has done this at least 4 times now. It's like they're creatively bankrupt or something. Could /vp/ design a better bear?

I like Pancham because I find his evolution from young punk to Yakuza delinquent thing to be charming but yeah they've definitely relied on the same formula for all of them which is kind of a shame.

Yeah this. A mid stage bear evo would probably suffer really badly from the awkward pubescent syndrome mid stages tend to have and just end up looking like a dumb skinny bear.
