There is a local used games store that I want to give my money to. Should I buy Emerald or Soul Silver? They are only versions I dont have.

Can't go wrong with either honestly, both are great games. I'd personally get SoulSilver if it isn't a rip-off and includes the Pokéwalker.

Tbh I have Heart Gold but I also have both Ruby and Sapphire. They dont have Pokewalker.

SS is about as different from HG as any other split versions, emerald has a few changes over RS like the obvious battle frontier/battle tents, having more tutors/tms, and different pokemon available. Only real reason to go SS is that it's a hard game to find a legit copy of for a reasonable price these days.

Emerald is mostly nostalgia, gen 4 is the prime, specially if you get to trade between various gen 4 games.
