>>40323892the only problem with abilities is that they are not equally useful and are sometimes somewhat unfairly assigned. some pokemon get an ability that seems to help them, while others get one that seemingly just makes them complete. for example, gastly gets levitate but dhelmise gets steelworker - even though it clearly levitates and it's an ability common to ghost types.
a lot of them also don't make sense, at least as the time has gone on. they seemed more natural when they were introduced. it makes sense for machamp to have guts - it's tough and pushes harder when it is afflicted with a condition. fine. but what the hell is no guard? how am i supposed to visualize or explain such a senseless ability without the context of the game mechanics?
it's also annoying to have to spend much more time searching for a pokemon with a given ability (and nature, and whatever else you want). it seems like a huge waste of time. however, it would be nice to be able to change abilities in-game (something less tedious than the ability capsule which are a terrible way of doing this).
