Counter point: Gen 5 dropped the bottom menu of HGSS in favor of the C-gear, which could've been a menu option rather than take over one of the screens all the time in the overworld.

Gen 5 UI: minimalism done right
Gen 8 UI: default photoshop shapes (please understand)

SM UI is also very good, especially the bottom screen.

Moving sprites was the best pokemon looked. They should of kept them and enhanced them.

I love Gen V. Best music, comfiest mons, warmhearted story and my waifu are all from it. All the other Gens are pretty great too, except Gen 6.

i think they look better in motion! sorta like how people are like "ueh the animation is so fluid!" and then once they see the animation smears they say "nevermind"

once you see one middle frame like that, sometimes it breaks the flow

Gen V's improvements are great, but I can't get over the removal of HGSS' touch screen capabilities. Pokemon hasn't been as comfortable to control since then.

Gen 7 UI is garbage and has the worst bottom screen.
