LGPE was basically an experiment on this premise anyway and they sold well
Gamefreak isn't particularly passionate about Pokemon anymore and just uses it as their reliable cash cow, yearly releases rake in plenty of cash and since people literally don't care about the games quality they can sell whatever so long as it has "pokemon" on it
Cutting Pokemon was the lowest they could stoop anyway, there really isn't anything worse they could cut now

It doesn’t really effect people who never cared to collect them all or transfer their pokemon from game to game, which is a lot. But it does affect people none the less, and I believe they have the right to voice their opinion about it.

If I just wanted to play online then I have no reason to buy the game instead of just playing showdown. It's a fucking portable console, not a phone game, I'm not going to have access to online 24/7.

Because even the people without living dexes are starting to question why there was a cut in the first place.
We haven't seen a single thing so far that justifies the cut, like fancy new graphics, gender differences for the whole dex, or new animations that aren't just bobbing up and down or shrouding the Pokemon in particle effects, etc.
Assuming there isn't some huge new hidden thing Gamefreak is hiding from us until the last second, we're paying twice as much for objectively less content.

It doesn't for me. I like to play every run through of a game, especially of a new gen, using Pokemon I have never used before. Using the same old shit gets boring, and using new stuff gives me more to enjoy by having new experiences. I would make the argument that it hurts pvp but I haven't played competitive since college so I also don't care about that. I'll have plenty of fun in the online pvp with what is provided, and if I miss old mons I can just go back and replay some old games because I replay a few gens every year anyways. I'm more excited for new features like camping, raids, more clothing and customization, and the new characters and plot than I could ever be disappointed in the cut when it doesn't affect how I play the games anyways.
