We already know the map isn't to scale as well as missing buildings, so it doesn't make much sense to try and extrapolate exactly where you'll be able to go based solely on this map. I'm sure this is generally correct but most locations will probably be bigger than they appear here.

A couple of things. For starters this doesn't account for indoor locations. We already know there's at least one cave and probably more. Second, like >>40332683 said, basically every town is missing buildings so it's hard to say if any of them are the right size. There isn't a single Poke Center on this map. Also we have a shitty screenshot of the full Wild Area map and the version on the region map looks like a pretty loosely-drawn interpretation. The northern section with the desert looks a lot smaller than it should be.

I think you're ignoring the fact they cut the 'Dex to be aable to work on the actual games more. That includes making the worldmap bigger but you're ignoring that too.

I think them limiting the dex is kinda reasonable. Perhaps in the next game they'll have incorporated everything. Maybe every new gen we only get the regional dex to make you focus on those new mons and then they finish off the dex later every time. People would buy the new games because new and the Pokemon would always return after. Who knows.
