I did Purity Forest with Pichu personally. Seems like a meme but ot gets both Sweet Kiss and Thunder Wave which are both super good.
You also need to abuse game mechanics and after a certain point have to pick your battles carefully. You can't waste PP attacking everything.
Other Pokemon that are good too are Pokemon that can learn a wide variety of moves from TMs as well. Mew is usable in that regard.
Smoochum is good too, not as busted as she is in the sequels, but she still has both Sweet Kiss and Powder Snow.
