That being said, yeah so far the lineup is as mediocre as gen 7. I think gen 7's pre-release lineup had more overtly awful designs, but it had a few decent designs whereas gen 8's best designs so far just feel like more bland renditions of ideas that've already been done.
The only one I like that isn't just an idea that's already been done before is Cramorant, but even then it's just another water/flying type and I can't imagine it having a particularly unique moveset.
