I liked generations more. Origins was good in concept, but there wasn't a lot to actually form an opinion on since they skip most of the story. Red comes off as being devoid of personality, and it was very faithful to the games until they put mega evolutions in, and at that point it became clear that it was just to try and get genwunners interested in getting XY.

Generations was fantastic. That deserved to become a fully fleshed out series.

Origins I'm not the biggest fan of. I was excited for it at first, but by the end it felt like a thinly veiled advertisement for X&Y.

origins gave us fleshed out versions of the kanto gym leaders and the best Red-Green dynamic ever
actually portrayed Pokemon realistically and they were fucking savage
the battles were also hype as fuck even if it's vanilla kanto and Red actually completed the Pokedex like a boss

I enjoyed them both in their own way, but I feel Origins suffered from glossing over the vast majority of the story. Not so much skipping over the gym battles, but rather stuff like summarizing Mt. Moon when they could have shown Red's first encounter with Team Rocket there. In my opinion Generations has the advantage there as it was only ever "supposed" to be an assortment of short clips showing the highlights from each game's stories, rather than being sold as a complete retelling.

Neither are good, but Origins, if only for a being a "story". It is wasted by being four episodes and worshiping Charizard and all the usual, but the Generations shorts are... too short. Hard to appreciate the fan service when its over as soon it starts.

Origins bombed so hard in Japan I'm fairly sure everyone involved with it are just pretending it never happened. It's never been rerun, it's not available for streaming anywhere, and I've never even seen it MENTIONED in any capacity outside of the initial prerelease hype. It's clearly considered a failed experiment.

Generations was ordered and paid for by TPCi. It was made for burgers. Origins was ordered and paid for by TPC and made for nips.

Unless TPCi suddenly decides there should be another Origins, there won't be another origins, because TPC sure as fuck have no interest in making one.

Nigga the SM anime literally included a character whose shtick is to make shitty puns on Pokemon names, complete with visual aids that make them literally impossible for foreign dubs to replace with anything other than a pun on the same Pokemon's name. They clearly had zero fucking regard for anyone involved with foreign dubbing when they came up with that guy.

Origins had a good premise but turned into a Charizard wankfest and made Red a really shitty trainer, people also talk about the "good animation" when the vast majority of the series looked horrible with 2 good battles throughout. Only remembered fondly because of the usual KANTOOOO crowd who will forgive anything as long as Charizard is onscreen.

Generations was better since it was closely following the games but was still a little too intentionally edgy for me to enjoy it.

Generations was inconsistent, but had some high highs and even the weakest episodes were okay. They had some really poor voice acting though, I wish there was a JP audio with subs release for them.

Origins started really well with episode 1, then episode 2 shat the bed and wasted 1/4 of the run time on a really uninteresting adaptions of the events in Lavender Town, episode 3 was sort of okay but by now way too much was skipped and the battle with Giovanni was uneven, 4 was also alright despite skipping too much, but by then it was revealed that the entire thing was really a mega evolution advertisement which sort of soured my feelings on it a bit.

It's on AniTV, a TV Tokyo-run streaming service. Plus it's also on Hulu Japan, Amazon Prime and I think Netflix Japan. If you live in Japan, you have absolutely no difficulty streaming Pokemon.

The direction, the writing, the characters and the battles were all abysmal and worse than the game counterparts and top of that it was a scam advertised as "Gen1 adaptation" yet it turned out to be an ad for Charizard X.

Generations had promise but felt meh with that 5 minutes per episode span

It was absolutely not. They advertised it as "promotion for XY", and I remember everyone wondering what the fuck the deal with that was because it was clearly an adaptation of Gen 1 and not XY.
