>>40371872I don't mind different spins on previous concepts. Yamper is like our 10th canine so far, and Drednaw is like our 7th turtle (Drednaw even shares BOTH of its types with a previous turtlemon, think about that), but that just means more variety for the people who like canines and turtles. And even though I love all the cotton mons, Eldegoss' design appeals more to me than Whimsicott or Jumpluff, so I'm happy that it exists.
I'm not objecting to more Pokemon existing at all, because it makes the Pokemon world seem like a bigger place where all of these different offshoots of cotton, canines, turtles, etc. can come about in all of these different environments just like in the real world. Plus I think it's helping to flesh out Galar and set it apart from other regions, since a lot of gen 8 Pokemon seem to have this theme of mutually beneficial relationships with humans. Gossifleur and Eldegoss create pollen and seeds that are highly nutritious and cure sickness, Wooloo is sheared to create high quality wool products, Rolycoly used to be kept in every house as a heat/fuel source, Corviknight is smart enough to be utilized as a taxi service, and so on. I feel like they're going for some kind of narrative theme and delving deeper into the co-dependent relationships between people and Pokemon, and it's nice for world building.
