This they're probably just legendary in the sense that they are extremely rare or related to a historical event. Much better than the deep meaningful godly origin we've been getting since gen3.

You mean gen 1 right? Mew is basically pokemon's Adam and Mewtwo its Eve. Ho-oh can raise the dead and Lugia can cause world ending storms by flapping its wings
