Pokemon remakes

No.40373958 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
So I've played all pokemon games in order of their release, except for the remakes. With pokemon, more than with any other franchise, I feel like the technological limitations contribute to the overal feel of the game and give boundaries for the artstyle to overcome. I associate these dated, black'n'white sort of poorer visuals with KANTOOO, slightly less dated and crisper colorful visuals with johto, these soft pastel cartoony visuals with hoenn and so on. Playing Kanto in gen 3's setting just feels weird to me. Most folks on this board prause how rich hgss are with content but i have no real desire to play them as johto for me is the one seen on the gbc, while the ds games are for sinnoh and unova. The most jarring example of this is thing are oras. The remakes look vibrant and saturated losing that almost vintage softness the originals had. That's not a bad thing per se, it just doesn't feel like Hoenn anymore, at least to me. Anyone feel the same way? What are some things remakes have over the originals?
