Who here started Pokemon in gen wun but isn't a genwunner.
I am.
>I started playing Pokemon during Pokemania in 1999. My first game was Pokemon Blue and I have fond memories of hanging out in the gymnasium with the other kids while everyone was looking Pokemon cards and playing the games.
>Yet even though I have those fond memories I somehow managed to be free of the mental illness that is being a nostalgiacuck or a Genwunner. I don't think Genwun was the "pinnacle" of Pokemon design (a LOT of Genwun Pokemon designs were trash), nor do I think it was the best example of Gameplay. HMs were and have always been trash. I think the reason I avoided being blinded by nostalgia is because I've always been a critical thinker, and have been good at not letting personal bias blind me to facts.
If you started in gen 1 but aren't a genwunner how did manage to avoid being blinded by nostalgia?
