I'll agree that they really do need to include a plethora of new gen 8 pokemon and also possibly share the love with other past gens. But gen 1 is their original baby. You can't fault them for being proud parents. .

(After all they are asain. Their first born is always the most important. XD)

Kanto pandering is what Kanto stuff is jerked off to the detriment of the new stuff.

See: XY and Sun/Moon. All of the new stuff in those games took a backseat to KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, so they feel lacking in terms of identity of their own.

Giving attention is different than purposely excluding other Pokemon. Megas had a more even distribution while Alolan Forms, Galar Forms (Zigzagoon line is a fluke), and Gigantamax are Gen-1 only.
