>>40391985On the surface level, they're going to tell you it's still for everyone. But really, it's now just for the people that are the easiest to target through marketing gimmicks. I wasn't too bothered by the Kanto pandering in gens 6 and 7 because it was just a small thing that would help the games sell. But I lost all hope for the series going forward when they announced not all species would be compatible with SnS, and not only because it stings to not be able to bring in all your old buddies, but because it's such a clear signal of Game Freak abandoning the values they had held until this point. Every monster has its fans, and having them all compatible with the games even if they weren't necessarily catchable in them by normal means was an acknowledgement of that. But now? You better like whatever it is GF actually bothers putting in, whether it be KANTOOO or a super special furry shillmon that you don't even need to work for to capture.
...Or we can just fuck off and play something else.
