No one is going to remember this guy if his ace Pokemon truly is Charizard. It's Diantha all over again.>You think of Dragonite, Lance comes to mind immediately >You think of Metagross, Steven comes to mind immediately >You think of Garchomp, Cynthia comes to mind immediately >You think of Volcarona, Alder comes to mind immediately >You think of Gardevoir, Wally comes to mind long before Diantha >You think of Charizard, Blue, Red, Green, Professor Oak, and even Lance come to mind before this guy I'm not usually one to complain about pandering, but this is legitimately bad design. The final boss of a game is supposed to be memorable, but this guy is going to be everything but. Each champion should have an ace Pokemon that is new and unique.

>>40394744 They fixed Wally in ORAS though and even Masters is using the ORAS designs for Hoenn. As it stands, Wally using Gardevoir is going to be that useless trivia knowledge in a few years, so people will actually start to remember Diantha. As for Leon, it really depends on how the story ends up in Sword and Shield.

>>40394744 I remember champions for their characters more than their Pokemon. Their ace could be anything, that's not really the point. Obviously you don't think of Leon when you think of Charizard because you know fucking nothing about Leon. His ace could be fucking anything and you'd be saying the exact same thing. At least wait for the game to be out before calling something unmemorable. Also you're making a pretty big assumption by calling him the final boss, the final boss and the champion aren't always the same thing.

>>40394744 >>You think of Charizard, Blue, Red, Green, Professor Oak, and even Lance come to mind before this guy I think of Blue for Alakazam before Charizard, and Lance for Dragonite. Gardevoir is considered primarily Wally's because it's his main partner while Diantha uses its Mega more, but no trainer before Leon really associates hard with Charizard. The closest would be Kiawe and he never even battles with it.

>>40394817 Leon was shown super early considering he's the champion, so he's likely to be plot relevant. And I agree, I remember the champions for the character not their main.

Even if people think that Bulbasaur is the official starter, just the fact that an argument can be made for both of them means Red is far more memorable with a Charizard. Leon's just the new kid with large shoes to fill if he ever wants to be remembered.

>>40394744 he's already more memorable than half the Champions, and we haven't even played the game yet

>>40394744 >You think of Volcarona, Alder comes to mind immediately I don't tend to think about Adler at all honestly. Honestly when I think Unova champion my first thought is always the "Belle is champion" trolling from when BW was first leaking.

being the one champion you can only face postgame already makes him unique, and he has more appearances before his defeat to N than say, steven in rs did. and his distant mentor role to cheren is pretty cool
steven is more memorable in emerald, where he's not even the champion

Diantha literally showed up in two scenes and one of them was her just ignoring the genocidal retard sitting next to her. Her ace being M-Gardevoir was totally fine, it was just that her team was fucking bizarre and pretty bad (completely cucked by Aegislash; why the shit would she even have a Hawlucha?). Leon is way, WAY worse.
Anonymous
>>40396079 How is Leon way, WAY worse? We don't know his team yet.
Diantha had an odd team, not well balanced but some how she became champion.
Anonymous
>>40396107 >How is Leon way, WAY worse? Because he's a showboating fuck for an obviously corrupt league? We already know Rose is the villain. And his ace being shown already is fucking boring. M-Gardevoir was an actual improvement for Garevoir, a big power increase. This shit is just three turns and then back to being garbage.
So we have two completely retarded characters with bland teams, but one has a worse ace and more screentime dedicated to him being a retard.

There are thousands of JRPGs where you save the world/country from the bad guys. Pokemon should not have tried to become one of them, especially since GameFreak have demonstrated zero ability to write a decent story.
