considering that the only thing that kept me playing X/Y was collecting all the clothes and playing dress up, I can't say that they're the best, or even good games.

it was also the start of the extreme handholding era, and Pokémon has only suffered since.

Won't say they're the best, but if I'm looking for a pokemon game to play it's going to be XY or R/S/E. XY offers a great roster of pokemon in their dex, and offers a lot of great nuzlocke potential.
Wonder Trade is great, and even without outside help the sheer vareity each route has makes it enjoyable to replay, unlike in most other gens were you'll end up with the same general roster every time.

XY and SM are original games. ORAS is a poorly balanced rehash. It's literally the worst mainline game in the series, forget about it being the best 3DS game.

really? that's why I like it. exp share is so broken in gen 6 you can rotate in and out a whole box of mons for your team and still be just under the level curve. i think i stretched it out to 20 in xy and 24 in oras.

I love X and Y, really do, best games in terms of new pokemon designs, characters, and the region is beautiful. Character customization was great, shame lgpe failed so hard at it. I would suffer through Kanto again just to have SwSh connect to Kalos. I even like fairy types.

ORAS are fucking TERRIBLE games and I would consider them perhaps the worst in the series. There are a lot of subjective reasons but also I could probably find just as many objective flaws. There's an infographic out there that I'm sure you've seen that has some good reasons why. None of the 3DS games are particularly good but ORAS really is THAT bad

The entire concept of KANTOOOOOO is that they merely placed in completely unnecessary kanto based features into games that shouldn't have them. i.e. alola, kalos and now galar. HGSS were remakes in their entirety prior to the phase that gamefreak started inserting KANTOOOOO into the franchise simply because XD muh nostalgia!!!1! What differentiates HGSS from the rest of the KANTOOOO stuff is the details of the game, such as following pokemon, pokeathlon, battle frontier etc.

Never. X Y were the beginning of the decline of the series. The graphics were chunky and odd looking. They also couldn't decide whether to have free movement so they stuck with grid movement instead. The story was absolutely abysmal. There was very little drive to the story and the antagonist team, their purpose seemed incredibly half-assed and rushed. It was also the start of kanto pandering and dumbing down the levels and difficulty of the games. The only thing I can give it credit for is the atmospheres of some areas in the game, which I thought were quite nice. Aside from that this game is garbage.
