Personally I’ve always preferred the traditional cries over the anime ones
Eevee’s in particular I can’t stand

Stadium and Stadium 2 had the best cries overall among the games IMO and should've been used when the cries got updated in Gen VI.
Anime-style cries should only be for the Yellow Version/Let's Go Partner Pikachu and Eevee and maybe other anime-inspired cases like Ash Greninja.

pretty sure in the Slowking episode during the Johto saga, some scientist said that they don't know what the real names of Pokemon are and that pokemon were given names based on the sound they make, so really, pokemon aren't saying their names, they're named after what they're saying.
