It's to show that RPG trope that powerful opponents can be encountered and to avoid them at all costs unless you want to be risky. Evolved Pokemon are stronger than not fully evolved Pokemon most of the time, anyway, and it adds to the diversity of wild encounters in the game.

This game will have over 300 Pokemon in it, so don't be surprised if you have to box a starter at some point. 6-Pokemon teams are not that feasible these days.

It's gonna bother me that some pokemon in the wild area have perfect ivs/egg moves, which means that if I want ___, and it is obtainable there at some point, i will HAVE to catch it there, even if it is available much earlier in the game

If you're good and tactical you can beat them early, but their powerful gear is a rare drop or unequippable until much later in the game, but you still get the souls/xp for doing it

Honestly I don't even know how to answer for that. It seems we're coming from complete opposite directions where you'll need game to codify your progress with levels and I measure progress by what I can do. I don't think we'll see eye to eye on this.

You can't do shit to a level 50 Vespiquen with your level 10 Sobble, anon. I don't care if you manage to get your hands on the best TMs and Ultra Balls and whatever else will make it easier, you'll get your shit slapped in no time. The reason they don't even let you attempt to catch them is because catching is essentially just a dice roll. Even someone hilariously unprepared could get lucky and catch a level 50 or whatever Pokemon before the first gym, which would be awful and broken and ruin the experience for that person.

In Paper Mario you CAN grind but that just makes you bulkier, not necessarily stronger which is more relegated to badges and boots/hammer upgrades both which are limited to story.

You never get access to toxic until mid game at earliest. If you really wanted to cheese things, you could breed a focus sash/endeavor/quick attack pokemon, but youd really be going out of your way to exploit this mechanic. The average autist is just going to play the game

Not really, that's just exploiting a quirk of the game. It depends entirely on the accessibility of Pokemon with Sturdy and Toxic, there's no progress involved. Especially since this is based off of knowledge you've accrued as a player over several generations of playing the games. If it's progress then it's progress you made years ago.
