I always feel bad for middlestages. They're often good designs but most of the time they're just a stepping stone between marketable cutemon, and marketable coolmon. No one is clamoring for Charmeleon the way they do Charmander and Charizard after all.

In Pokémon’s version, the “seaweed” on it’s tail is wave-like fur instead. Pretty clever.
